Amid the disasters that have befallen this country, the greatness of your zeal serves us as a considerable consolation. Your previous actions, your constant attentiveness, care and concern gave us great encouragement, but what you have now done, having undertaken such a long journey for the good of the church, has decisively revived us all. We all jointly testify to you, therefore, our great gratitude for your exorbitant labors and efforts, for your good deeds, and we constantly rejoice you for your kind zeal and diligence. On this occasion, we asked my master, the most honest and most reverent presbyter, to go to you. Accept it with the grace due to you, and please crown your work with an end worthy of the beginning. Let the perpetrators of such violent turmoil and such a cruel war that engulfed the churches persist hitherto incurably in their blindness; all the more should we grieve and cry for them, and all the more should we be amazed and honor you for the fact that, despite the increase in disasters, you, with constant constancy, are increasingly increasing your zeal for correcting them.
