How beautiful and dear to us is this union of yours, bound not only by the law of nature, but also by the bonds of the most tender love! We boast, we are therefore proud of your friendship, and we would like to see you in person. But since this is not yet possible, we do what is possible: we constantly write to you and always remember you, carrying you everywhere in our hearts, wherever we are, so that the distance in this regard does not in any way separate us from your dimension. Such are the wings of love: the road and distance mean nothing to it, and it easily rises above the deplorable state of circumstances. That is why, despite the hardships of desert life, the oppression of siege, the constant raids of robbers, despite all the disasters surrounding us, we have not weakened in the least in friendship and invariably maintain a lively disposition towards you.
