Contents From the compiler Section one. HOUSE. Section two. PILGRIM. The Seraphim-Diveyevo Monastery shone with holiness from the day of its foundation, since it was established by the Queen of Heaven Herself as Her Fourth inheritance on earth. From the end of the 19th century until the pogrom in 1927, several generations of monks were saved here under the sensitive guidance of wise abbess. A huge number of Orthodox pilgrims flocked here, finding consolation and relief in the paths of life in the monastery. You can learn a lot about the long past of the monastery by reading the wonderful “Chronicle” of priest L.M. Chichagov, which was published in 1896 and, with minor changes, was republished for the Seraphim celebrations in 1903. And the 20th century, is there a similar Chronicle for all this time? There is no such book. But nothing disappears without a trace. The pre-revolutionary time, the period of terrible persecution after the October Revolution, and finally, the wanderings of nuns in the world - are captured and not forgotten. There remain notes from the clergy themselves, memories of secular pious people who visited the monastery at different times, oral traditions that have not disappeared among the people to this day. All this will tell about the fate of the monastery in the 20th century, similar to the fate of Russia, erected on Golgotha. Bit by bit, priceless evidence had to be collected, and this book, which readers had been waiting for so long, was finally compiled. Integrated into one collection, disparate or even completely unknown materials will tell about an entire era in the life of the monastery, about ascetics endowed by the Lord with the gift of insight, about the wanderings of nuns in conditions of total oppression, often told by them themselves. This collection for the monastery is, as it were, the final one for the 20th century, a kind of Chronicle created by many people in modern times. Reading these materials, you are once again convinced of how prophetically perspicacious Father Seraphim was, who from afar foresaw the most difficult path of the Diveyevo sisters under the rule of the atheists. And they, the saints, were commanded with a firm hope for an influx of faith among the people, for the revival of the monastery, in which, according to his own verb, he would remain until the end of the age. And so it happened: on the Praise of the Mother of God, on March 31, 1990, the consecration of the main monastery cathedral, Trinity Cathedral, took place, which marked the beginning of the revival of the monastery. And a year later, on July 19, 1991, with a gathering of pilgrims from all over Russia, the celibate relics of St. Seraphim rested forever in Diveevo, as the holy elder had predicted. The collection “Seraphim-Diveyevo Legends” is the first book of its kind. We hope that witnesses to events, whether joyful or unbearably difficult, associated with the historical context of the expiring century, will also tell about other monasteries - and, thank God, there are so many of them throughout the Light Russian expanse. The Lord will enlighten you, may it come true!
