Chapter 10

And David sings this psalm after overcoming his enemies. And it presents a magnificent thought. Ps.10:1. In the Lord I trust, what do you say to my soul? Why do you advise me to run to the mountains like a bird when I trust in God? Fly through the mountains like a bird. Move, leave, run to the mountains, that is, to the mountains of virtue. Ps.10:2. For behold, behold, sinners have laid a bow, and prepared arrows in Tula. With these words they encouraged you to flee, saying: if you do not run away, sinners will strike you with arrows. So, he makes it known that evil thoughts are the arrows of the evil one. Shoot the right-hearted in the darkness. In the darkness, that is, secretly; because such is the nature of shooting mental enemies. Ps.10:3. What you have done, they will destroy.” - that is, the enemy drew into corruption a person created for incorruption. Or, my enemies are hastening to destroy Your works. For whom You have anointed as King, they are trying to turn him into nothing, arming themselves against Your verdict. And they do this by destroying in themselves the naturally right concepts that You “performed” in them. What will the righteous do? Although the enemies did this, the Lord, whose church is heaven, having subjected the righteous and the wicked to the test, divides the blessings of some, and sends others to eternal torment. Ps.10:4. The Lord is in His holy church... You look upon the poor with His eyes. Shows that nothing is hidden before God. “Eyes” refers to beneficent observation. The sons of men will test His trust.
