Having thus finished this story, he moves on to another story about what happened before. Jer.27:1. At the beginning of the kingdom of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: Then he says that he was commanded to place it (Jer. 27:2) on the “neck treasure,” and not to send it to the neighboring kings, whom he also names. And it was also ordered to inform them through ambassadors and these words: Jer.27:5. I made the earth, and man, and the beasts that are on the face of the earth, with My great strength, and with My outstretched arm, - and “I will give it, it will be pleasing to him before My eyes.” This: “by My great strength, and by My high arm,” is said because of the greatness of the elements and because of the weakness of those who listen. For it is enough for God to desire in order to produce whatever he pleases. I am, “I gave this land in the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon,” My servant, and “I gave the wild animals to work for him,” and to serve him. By “beasts of the countryside” he means barbarian peoples, and says: I am the Creator and the Master; I manage as I want. Jer.27:7. And all the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his land comes. By this, God clearly showed that, as the perpetrators of execution, he used the Babylonians, through them he punished other nations, and in the end he would betray them to final destruction. And those who resist and throw off the yoke are threatened with hunger, beatings and enslavement. He also advises them not to believe the soothsayers, magicians, bird tellers and dreamers, but to give in, accept the yoke of the king of Babylon, and promises peace to the submissive. He said this to King Zedekiah, and commanded him not to believe the false prophets who promised peace and the return of the sacred vessels taken to Babylon; because the prophets speak lies. Jer.27:18. If they are prophets and the word of the Lord is in them, let them stand before the Lord strength, “let not the vessels that remain in the house of the Lord, and in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, go to Babylon.” It is said: “Let them stand before the Lord,” instead: let them overcome and turn away the prophecies of God, and show that these prophecies are not valid. For you will see that all the remaining sacred vessels will be transferred to Babylon, and after seventy years they will be expelled from there and returned to the house dedicated to Me. About (Jer.27:19) “Mechonoth” 14 is also mentioned in the third book of kings (1 Kings 7:27). They replaced bowls and were made of copper. According to the Slavic translation “podstavakh”.
