345. Бесстрастие снискивается долгими трудами, многими постами, молитвами и подается человеку благодатию Божией

I have nothing against you and received you with the same disposition as the treasurer. If you didn’t get the same feeling, then you shouldn’t be surprised. This happens depending on the person’s mental state. And you shouldn’t demand the same. But thank God for everything that happened. Also, do not boast of dispassion and do not imagine it in yourself. It is gained through long labor, and many fasts, and prayers, and is given to man by the grace of God at a time pleasing to God. But it is very useful for you and me to consider ourselves enslaved to all sorts of passions and for this reason to humble ourselves more deeply and ask for God’s help at every hour.
