Hebrews 4:1. Therefore we will be afraid so that... none of us ends up lagging behind and so that, thanks to our negligence, we do not lose the opportunity - not to that land of promise, but to the true rest of God, which is the kingdom of heaven. After all, we also have a promise through faith and spiritual living to enter the kingdom, just as they received the commandment through the law, so that in this way they could take possession of the land given to them: Hebrews 4:2 But the word of the law they heard did not profit them, was not dissolved by those who heard by faith. Hebrews 4:3. We will enter into peace itself, we who have believed into Christ and endowed with His gifts (grace). But they did not enter this rest, according to the oath which He swore through David, saying: I have sworn in My wrath that they will not enter My rest (Ps. 94:11). The Sabbath is precisely the rest that was announced, for when on the seventh day all the works were completed, it was said: Hebrews 4:4 God made him rest on the seventh day... all that was done. Therefore, if the Jews did not rest, like their deeds, on the seventh day, then obviously it is said about them: Hebrews 4:5 they will not enter My rest. But the Apostle set the Sabbath rest as a prototype of true and eternal rest, which is why he said: Hebrews 4:6 remains... for some... to enter into it, that is, no longer into that rest (Sabbath), which served as a passing prototype, but into that true rest, which was representatively “evangelized” to the Jews, but they And that there must be two Sabbaths, one a prototype, and the other true, this can be seen from the words: Hebrews 4:7 again another day... defines the expression “today” in the mouth of David, saying now after so much time from the time when the first Sabbath was given: “Now that... you hear His voice... do not harden your hearts”, like those who perished in the wilderness and did not enter His rest. After all, if Joshua the son of Nun, who gave them to inherit the land (promised), would have settled them and given them rest, then now (under David) in no way should one have spoken about the rest of some other day: for Jesus gave them rest, leading them into the promised land, and yet they did not rest completely on this, as God completely rested from His works, if they were in great labor and had to fight for a long time. So, if that rest was not rest, since even Jesus himself, who gave them this rest, labored in battles - if this is so, that is, I say, it exists, and “the Sabbathship remains” of God, who gives rest to those who enter into it, Hebrews 4:8–10. how he himself rested... So, let us try to enter into... this peace, so that no one, following the same example, falls into disobedience and unbelief - and thus we will not enter (the rest), like that generation of people who came out of the land of Egypt: since they retreated and were disobedient and did not enter into the rest (Sabbath) even in the very type when Hebrews 4:12. the Word of God was alive, which gave the promise of the true Sabbath (rest). And so again it's...sharp and penetrating punishment to the point of demanding and exacting everything that is honored in the soul and in the thoughts of the heart. Hebrews 4:13. And there is no creature invisible, which, that is, would be hidden from him, since everything hidden will appear naked before Him Hebrews 4:14. So we have one High Priest, Jesus Christ the Son of God, Hebrews 4:15. Who cannot help but sympathize... who is weak and ours, by which we are tempted, those who hold His confession and do not waver; for He Himself sufferings of the body, thanks to the flesh He assumed. let us imitate Him, so that we may be without sin in His likeness, let them approach the throne of grace with boldness Him, that is, at the very hour of retribution.
