He gave another example to clarify the idea. Gal.4:1. While the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he is the master of everything. Gal.4:2. But he is subject to guardians and stewards until the time appointed by his father. Gal.4:3. So did we, when we were children, that is, while the world was a child under the unsteady order of law, it was as if at the beginning of the world we were enslaved. Gal.4:4. And when the fullness of time had come, God sent His Son, who was born of Virgins, as Isaiah said (Is. 7:14), and Gal.4:5. to redeem the children under the law, so that they may receive adoption. Gal.4:6. that you [are] sons,... God has sent... the Spirit of His Son... into your hearts, crying through you, as through your sons, daily: “Our Father, who art in heaven; Hallowed be thy name" (Matthew 6:9, Luke 11:2). Gal.4:8. But then, when you did not know God, you served idols, which by nature are not gods. Gal.4:9. But now have you known God? Better yet, God Himself has known you according to your works and chose you to be a holy people for himself: how you turn again to insignificant and... weak... beginnings law and, when their time has already ended, do you want to submit to the yoke of slavery? Gal.4:10. Days... watch and months... and years, which the people of Israel observed. Gal.4:11. I'm afraid for you to you did not stoop to convert to Judaism and now without these (deeds of the law), observed these instructions. what could prompt me to change my attitude towards you. Gal.4:13. I know that because of the weakness of my flesh I preached the gospel to you before: either in the weakness of his members, or in temptation from his enemies. which I imagined in myself, you did not despise, but like an Angel, who is devoid of suffering, in suffering itself Gal.4:15. if it were possible... your eyes would be plucked out... and... given to me, - Would I really begin to teach you lies mixed with truth? But those who hate you because you received the Spirit without keeping the law, Gal.4:17. force you... they want to, being circumcised along with those who hate you because you have received what they do not have. Gal.4:18. It's good if someone competes not in harmful objects, but Gal.4:19. Again I am tormented... I will give birth to you until then, when Christ... is depicted... in you, that is, until Christ dwells in you. Gal.4:20. I would like... to be with you and change my voice, to confirm you with another teaching, since I am surprised at your rapid change. Don't you see in Abraham himself that Gal.4:21–22. two sons... had . Gal.4:23. Who was born of a slave, according to the flesh... free (Gen. 16:2, 17:19, 21:3). Gal.4:24–25. But these were images of the two covenants. One - with the people of Judah, according to the law Agar and; for Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia. She serves as a likeness of this Jerusalem, since it is enslaved and, together with its children, is enslaved to the Romans. Gal.4:26. Jerusalem above is free, like Sarah, and above all powers and principalities. He The Holy Church that we profess. We did not invent this doctrine, for Isaiah foretold about it: Gal.4:27. the barren woman who bears no birth rejoiced, because many children were born having a husband (Isa.54:1). Gal.4:28. But you, brothers,... like Isaac... are the promises of a child. Gal.4:29. But how Ishmael offended [persecuted] Isaac (Gen. 21:9), so we now suffer persecution from them. And as he said to him (Abraham): Gal.4:30. cast out the slave [maid] and her son, lest the son of the slave [servant] inherit with the son of the free woman (Gen. 21:10), - so they also separated so that they would not be heirs along with you.
