(Cf. 1 Kings 8:54,62–64; 1 Kings 9:1–9)
1–11. The final moment of the consecration of the church is sacrifices and public feasts. 12–22. A dire warning received by Solomon in a revelation to him.
2 Chronicles 7:1. When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offerings and sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house.
2 Chronicles 7:2. And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.
2 Chronicles 7:3. And all the children of Israel, seeing how the fire and the glory of the Lord came down on the house, fell with their faces to the ground on the platform, and worshiped and praised the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever.
Having mentioned the end of Solomon’s prayer (verse 1) (cf. (1 Kings 8:54)), 2 Chronicles omits speech about Solomon’s blessing of the people (1 Kings 8:54–61), but instead notes the miracle of fire coming down from heaven from heaven on Solomon’s sacrifices, not mentioned in 1 Kings: this miraculous phenomenon, both in character and in meaning, is completely identical with what happened place in the tabernacle of Moses when Aaron brought the first sacrifices there (Lev.9:24, see comments in the “Explanatory Bible”, vol. I, p. 436), i.e. pointed to the godly sacrifices of Solomon and the people (cf. Judgment 6:20–21; 1 Kings 18:38; 1 Chronicles 21:26), as filling the church with a cloud (cf. 1 Kings 8:10–11) was a symbol of the presence of God in it (cf. Exodus 40:34; Exodus 14:19–20); Exodus 24:15–17 ; Exodus 33:9 ).
2 Chronicles 7:4. The king and all the people began to offer sacrifices before the Lord.
2 Chronicles 7:5. And King Solomon sacrificed twenty-two thousand oxen and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep: thus the king and all the people sanctified the house of God.
2 Chronicles 7:6. The priests stood in their service, and the Levites with the musical instruments of the Lord, which King David made to glorify the Lord, for His mercy is everlasting, since David glorified through them; and the priests blew a trumpet before him, and all Israel stood.
2 Chronicles 7:7. Solomon also sanctified the inner part of the courtyard, which is in front of the house of the Lord: for he offered there burnt offerings and the fat of peace offerings, since the copper altar made by Solomon could not contain the burnt offerings and the grain offering and the fats.
2 Chronicles 7:8. And Solomon at that time made a seven-day festival, and all Israel with him, a very large congregation, which came together from the entrance of Hamath to the river of Egypt;
2 Chronicles 7:9. and on the eighth day they made an after-feast, for they celebrated the consecration of the altar for seven days and the feast for seven days.
2 Chronicles 7:10. And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month the king sent the people away to their tents, rejoicing and having gladness in their hearts because of the good that the Lord had done to David and Solomon and to Israel his people.

Verse 6 has no parallel in 1 Kings; With regard to the details of the description of the ceremonial side of the consecration of the church, as well as the priestly and Levitical personnel, the story of 2 Chronicles comes close to the story (1 Ezra 3:10–12) about the foundation of the second Jerusalem temple and (1 Ezra 6:16–20) about the consecration of this last one. Wed. also (Ps. 135:3,6).
2 Chronicles 7:11. And Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king's house; and all that Solomon intended in his heart to do in the house of the Lord and in his own house, he accomplished successfully.
2 Chronicles 7:12. And the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him: I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.
2 Chronicles 7:13. If I shut up the heavens and there is no rain, and if I command the locusts to devour the earth, or send a pestilence upon my people,
2 Chronicles 7:14. and my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:15. Now My eyes will be open and My ears will be attentive to prayer in this place.
2 Chronicles 7:16. And now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there all the days.
2 Chronicles 7:17. And if you will walk before Me, as David your father walked, and will do all that I have commanded you, and will keep My statutes and My judgments,
2 Chronicles 7:18. Then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I promised to your father David, saying: Your [husband] ruling over Israel will not cease.
2 Chronicles 7:19. But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have given you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,
2 Chronicles 7:20. then I will destroy Israel from the face of My land which I have given them, and I will cast away this church which I have dedicated to My name from before Me, and will make it a byword and a laughing stock among all nations.
2 Chronicles 7:21. And about this high church, everyone who passes by will be horrified and say: why did the Lord do this to this land and to this church?
2 Chronicles 7:22. And they will say: because they forsook the Lord, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and clung to other gods, and worshiped them, and served them, for this reason He brought all this disaster upon them.
