(Col. 1, 3–6; Luke 16, 10–15) “You cannot serve God and mammon” (Luke 16:13). A split thought and a split heart make a person useless for anything; for “a double-minded man is unsettled in all his ways” (James 1:8). He either does nothing, or he does and redoes it, that is, he builds with one hand and destroys with the other. The source of a truly godly life is a firm determination to please God in everything. This determination directs all the thoughts, desires and feelings of a person towards one thing, and thus uniting his inner being, makes him strong in action and brings unity to the entire totality of his activities, giving it one character. Deeds are so successful and fruitful because they are full of true life. Why lethargy, immobility, fruitlessness of affairs? From internal lifelessness, and internal lifelessness from the splitting of the internal. A single goal is not recognized, it is not set by the law of life - things go on as they should. That’s why some go in one direction, others in another; the building of life is not being built. Choose a goal and devote your life to it. The real, main goal is indicated by the godlike nature of man; she is a living communion with God. Direct your private, academic, everyday, civil, commercial, official, and governmental goals toward this main goal.
