(Eph.5:9–19; Matt.18:10–20) Comforting His disciples, the Lord said that it was better for them that He ascended to heaven, for, having ascended, He would send in His place the Comforter - the Spirit. The Holy Spirit descended and dwells in the Church, completing the work of Christ in every believer. Every Christian is a partaker of the Spirit. This is so necessary that whoever does not have the Spirit is not Christ’s. Take a good look - is there the Spirit of grace in you? For not everyone has it, but sometimes it goes away. Here are the signs: first, the spirit of repentance finds and teaches the Christian to turn to God and correct his life; the spirit of repentance, having completed its work, transfers the Christian to the spirit of holiness and purity, which is finally succeeded by the spirit of sonhood. The trait of the first is industrious jealousy; the characteristic of the second is the warmth and sweet burning of the heart; the feature of the third is the feeling of sonship, according to which the sighing to God comes from the heart: “Abba, Father!” (Mark 14:36) Look at which of these degrees you are at.
