Priest Fr. Alexander Trusevich writes: “I believe in the power of Father Fr. John, for repeatedly through his prayers he received mercy from the Lord. So in 1909 our daughter Nina fell ill with scarlet fever in a very severe form. Both we and the paramedic who used it did not expect a good outcome of the disease. When I turned to the Ioannovsky Monastery with a request to pray at the tomb of the priest, the illness took a different course - our daughter recovered and is now studying. In January 1911, at the religious school, our son, Anatoly, fell ill with scarlet fever. “I then sent a telegram to the monastery, asking for Father John’s prayers, and my son’s illness passed in a mild form, but during this test something else happened. My wife, who came to visit her sick son, fell ill herself. The doctor called said that he assumed my wife had the onset of typhoid fever or dysentery and that his assumption would be correct if the temperature increased from the next day. Then I immediately went back to the monastery with a telegram, asking for the priest’s prayers for my wife, and our faith in the power of the priest’s prayers was not in vain: in the morning, my wife’s temperature did not rise, as the doctor expected, but dropped almost to normal, and she recovered.
