On a petition to the emperors to prohibit noble persons from taking under their protection and insisting on the release from punishment of clerics convicted by a church court.
We must also ask that they be pleased to determine that a cleric, no matter what his degree, if he is convicted by a court of bishops for any crime, cannot be defended either by the Church to which he belonged or by any person, under the threat of a fine and deprivation of honor. Moreover, let them command that neither age nor nature be considered an excuse.

Κἁκεῖνο δεῖ αἰτῆσαι, ἵνα ὁρίσαι καταξιώσωσιν, ὥστε κληρικὸν οἱασδήποτε τιμῆς τυγχάνοντα, ἐφ᾽ οἱῳδήποτε ἐγκλήματι τῇ τῶν ἐπισκόπων κρίσει καταδικασθέντα, μὴ ἐξεῖναι τὸν αὐτόν, εἴτε παρὰ τῆς ἐκκλησίας ἧς ὑπῆρχεν, εἴτε παρ᾽ οἱουδήποτε ἀνθρώπου διεκδικεῖσθαι, ποινῆς ἐπὶ τούτῳ παρεντεθείσης ζημίας χρημάτων τε καὶ τιμῆς, ὅπως μηδὲ κεῖραν μηδὲ φύσιν ἀπολογητέαν εἶναι κελεύσωσι.[1]
