On the eve of the celebration of the memory of St. Anthony the Roman, the Novgorod miracle worker, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass celebrated an all-night vigil in the St. Simeon Cathedral. The archpastor was concelebrated by the clergy of the cathedral, headed by the key minister, Archpriest Vladimir Manichev. During the service, an excerpt from the Gospel of John (John 21:15-25) was read, in which Jesus Christ turns to the Apostle Peter three times with the question: “Do you love Me?” Three times Peter answers in the affirmative. The Lord entrusts him with the care of his flock: “Feed My sheep.” Jesus Christ predicts Peter's bonds and death for his faith. He also talks about the special path of John the Theologian. During the reading of the canon, Metropolitan Alexy anointed the believers with consecrated oil. At the end of the service, the clergy of St. Simeon's Cathedral performed the troparion “Under Your Mercy,” dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos. This piece of music was created by Russian composer Pavel Chesnokov at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Metropolitan Alexy cordially congratulated the parishioners on Sunday and wished God's help in all matters. CDRO Chelyabinsk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. All rights reserved.
