A meeting of the Bishops' Council of the Simbirsk Metropolis was heldtranslated

On August 16, 2026, a meeting of the Bishops' Council of the Simbirsk Metropolis was held at the Simbirsk Diocesan Administration. It was attended by Metropolitan of Simbirsk and Novospassky Longin, Bishop of Melekess and Cherdaklinsky Diodorus, Bishop of Barysh and Inzensky Alexander, as well as the secretary of the Simbirsk diocesan administration, Priest Roman Solodko and the secretary of the Bishops' Council, Archpriest Ilya Kuznetsov.

The bishops discussed the program for celebrating the Council of Simbirsk Saints. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', a new date for the celebration in honor of the Council was established in 2026 - the second Sunday of September. This year the main holiday of the metropolis will take place on September 13th. On this day, a divine service will take place on Cathedral Square - Divine Liturgy on the site of the Trinity Cathedral destroyed in the 1930s. The Liturgy will be celebrated conciliarly by the bishops of the Simbirsk Metropolis. For everyone, there will be excursions, an exhibition dedicated to the history of the Trinity Cathedral - a church-monument to the Simbirians who died in the Patriotic War of 1812, classes in Sunday schools, and educational events in parishes.
