I remember driving out to the Kalyviani monastery for the Dormition a few years back—the service under those old plane trees was so peaceful. The nuns’ chanting still sticks in my head. Did they have the same procession with the icon this year?
Yeah, they did the icon procession again this year, same as always, right after the Liturgy. The nuns still chant beautifully under those plane trees. I drove the parish group out there last August and the whole thing felt steady and quiet, just like you described.
This year I was not able to go to Calviani, but I remember exactly the same – after the Liturgy, they take out the icon and the sisters sing under the plane trees. Quiet and peaceful, like in the old days. Did they have a lot of people again?
I was also there a couple of years ago for the Assumption. After the liturgy, the icon was brought out, the sisters sang under the same plane trees - exactly as you write. This year, they say, there weren’t very many people, it was quiet.
