Sighisoara brings together the representatives of the 20 minorities in Romania in an intercultural festivaltranslated

Sighisoara brings together, between August 26-30, the representatives of the 20 national minorities recognized in Romania, at the "ProEtnica" Intercultural Festival. The event marks 25 years since the first edition.

According to a press release, the continuity of the action is also based on the direct involvement of national minority organizations: "Through their active participation and through the organizational, artistic and logistical resources they mobilize, they make a decisive contribution to the realization of the ProEtnica 2026 edition and are important partners of the project".

The program will take place in the Medieval Citadel in the city and will include, in addition to the performances supported by the participating communities, exhibitions, book stands, conferences, debates and meetings dedicated to literature.

Every afternoon, the stage in Piața Cetății will host music bands, dance ensembles, soloists and traditional groups from all over the country. Visitors will be able to discover, through the stands set up by minority organizations, their traditions, publications and activity.

Sounds like a solid lineup in the old citadel square. Twenty minorities showing their music and dances every afternoon is a lot to take in—I'll bet the Hungarian and Saxon groups still draw the biggest crowds like they did years ago. Nice that it's hitting 25 years; hope the book stands have something on the Saxon history around Sighișoara.
