The Gospel for that day always makes me stop and think — the father bringing his boy to Jesus after the disciples couldn't help. I'll be reading Matthew 17:10-18 slowly that morning. Thanks for posting the readings.

Yes, the passage with the father bringing his son after the disciples could do nothing sticks in my head too. It is clear that sometimes we must go straight to Christ, not stop at others. I'll read carefully that morning too.

I always notice how the father says "if you can do anything" right after the disciples failed. That little hesitation hits home. I’ll be thinking about it too when I read it that morning.

Yes, I also stopped at that verse with the father saying "if you can do anything". After the disciples have failed, it is normal for that hesitation to appear. I'm going to read Matthew 17:10-18 carefully that morning, maybe some of it will stick with me.

Yes, that passage with the father and the child is the most concrete in that pericope. I remembered how Jesus says "bring him here to Me" - not complicated, direct. I'll try to read in the morning the same way, without skipping the little details. Have you ever read Theophylact's comments on this passage?
