Russia and Belarus Unite at a Large Cossack Festival in Moscow: The Central Spiritual Event Was the Consecration of the On-The-Move Churchtranslated

On September 12, 2026, the XII Cossack Village Festival took place at the Museum-Zapovednik "Kolomna" in Moscow.

For one day, on an open-air plaza, representatives from 40 regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus came together to showcase the diversity of Cossack traditions, according to a statement by the festival's Organizing Committee to the magazine "Foma."

This year, the festival, dedicated to the Year of Unity among the Peoples of Russia, was attended by more than 93,000 visitors, while online viewership reached 471,280 people. Thus, the total number of festival viewers exceeded 560,000.

"Cossack culture has always been strong in its warrior brotherhood, loyalty to the Fatherland, stability of family traditions, and robust labor customs. Cossacks fought bravely, worked for glory, and thus knew how to rest gloriously," noted Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin in his greeting, which was read by Vitaly Suchkov, Head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of Moscow, at the festival.
