Parishioners of the Yekaterinburg Church in the name of St. Stephen of Great Perm are completing final rehearsals and packing the scenery before a big tour. From October 2 to October 4, 2026, a troupe consisting of Sunday school children and their parents will present in Perm, Cherdyn and Solikamsk the author’s missionary play “The Tricky Birch” as part of the project “A Link of Times: the Mission of St. Stephen of Great Perm.”

The project is the winner of the “Orthodox Initiative” grant competition; it is dedicated to the first bishop of the Perm diocese of the 14th century - the heavenly patron of the Ural land.

These days there is a special excitement within the walls of the Yekaterinburg parish. While young actors once again repeat the text of playwright-teacher Yulia Mezhina, adult parishioners carefully pack costumes and fragments of scenery for transportation. An exhibition of children's drawings illustrating the life of the saint is also being prepared for shipment. For many families, this is the first trip to historical places where the “apostle of the Zyryans” preached more than six centuries ago.
