To increase communion, the Mono Monastery in Canada, under the patronage of the "Exaltation of the Holy Cross", celebrated its patron saint on the 18th Sunday after Pentecost. The Romanian Orthodox Bishop Ioan Casian of Canada appreciated that the monastery is becoming, like those in the country, a focus of faith.

"We were happy to see such a large number of priests here from the Ontario area," said Father Bishop. "Thus, the monastery becomes what it is in our Romanian tradition: an essential point, a focus of faith and of strengthening the parishes, as, moreover, the parishes in turn are the ones that cultivate faith and are centers of faith for the society around them."

The Most Reverend Father Ioan Casian celebrated the Holy Liturgy together with a council that also included: Rev. Petrică Busuioc, administrative vicar; Rev. Mircea Panciuk dean emeritus; Rev. Viorel Țencaliuc archpope; Jerome. Polycarp, the abbot of the monastery, and other Romanian clerics overseas.

Among the participants of the event were Michael Tibollo, Deputy Minister of Justice for the Canadian Province of Ontario, and Oana Raluca Gherghe, Consul General of Romania in Toronto.
