Interesting to see the Laotian president stop by the Ascension Cathedral in Almaty. Did he light a candle or just tour the building? Always curious how these state visits handle the Orthodox side of things.

Quite interesting that the president of Laos went to Ascension Cathedral in Almaty. I wonder if he was shown the murals too or just stopped by for a quick visit. In such state visits, the candles are usually lit discreetly.

It is interesting that the president of Laos stopped at the Ascension Cathedral in Alma-Ata. I wonder if he was shown the icons of the holy martyrs or if he just passed quickly through the church. Here in Skopje, when foreigners come, we usually mention the iconostasis from the 19th century, so they probably did something similar there.

Yeah, the article says he was there for a tour and met the local clergy, but it doesn't mention him lighting a candle or praying. Those official visits usually keep it pretty formal on the Orthodox side. Did you catch any photos from inside the cathedral?
