“They could go to school”: in Makhachkala they joined the all-Russian action in defense of lifetranslated

On September 6, 2026, with the blessing of Archbishop Varlaam of Makhachkala and Derbent, the “They Could Go to School” event took place on the territory of the Assumption Cathedral of Makhachkala, aimed at drawing attention to the value of human life before birth, supporting motherhood and preserving the family.

Participants in the event, organized by the diocesan anti-abortion activist, were pupils of the Transfiguration Sunday school, their parents and parishioners of the cathedral.

According to the organizers, the name of the action draws attention to a simple but poignant idea: today, together with their peers, children who were not allowed to be born could come to school. Behind every unborn child there is an entire human life - with its own dreams, meetings, discoveries and the opportunity to one day hear the first school bell.

As part of the event, a thematic installation was presented, designed to remind of children whose lives could continue if their mothers received the necessary support at a difficult moment.
