Patriarch Daniel on the Wonderful Fishing: God bestows His grace on the humility that comes from many toilstranslated

"God gives man His grace for the humility that comes from many hardships," said the Blessed Father Patriarch Daniel on Sunday, at the "St. George" Chapel of the Patriarchal Residence, where he interpreted the evangelical episode about the first wonderful Fishing.

The Patriarch of Romania noted that the Savior Jesus Christ did not perform miracles for some lazy fishermen.

"The miracle was done for hard-working fishermen, who toiled all night, but because they caught nothing, they humbled themselves a lot. Only when he found them in a state of fatigue after much toil and in a state of humility after a great failure, Christ God gave them His miracle-working help," emphasized Father Patriarch Daniel.

"Near is the grace of humble contemplation" In this sense, His Beatitude quoted St. Isaac the Sirul, who said: "Until a man humbles himself, he does not receive the payment of his work, and the reward is not given to the work, but to humility. So the reward is not given to virtue, nor to the effort for it, but to the humility that is born from them. It is almost the grace of humble contemplation."
