Metropolitan of Kyiv consecrated church iconostasis and bell tower at military institute in Zhytomyr

Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine visited Zhytomyr on Saturday, September 26, 2026, where he consecrated the iconostasis and bell tower of the Church of All Saints of the Ukrainian Land, located within the S. P. Korolyov Zhytomyr Military Institute.

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was joined in prayer by Bishop Paisiy of Zhytomyr and Ovruch, the church’s rector, Archpriest Ivan Soproniuk, military chaplains, the institute’s leadership, servicemen and servicewomen, and representatives of the local authorities.

Following the service, Metropolitan Epifaniy addressed those present, emphasizing the importance of prayer during the ongoing war and paying tribute to the sacrifices of Ukrainian defenders.

He stressed that prayer helps ward off evil, particularly during times of hardship, and highlighted the courage and dedication of those serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Referring to St John the Theologian, whose memory was commemorated that day, Metropolitan Epifaniy underlined that love for one’s neighbor and self-sacrifice are fundamental principles of Christian life.
