Patriarch of Georgia receives Ecumenical Patriarchate delegation

Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III of All Georgia received a delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, led by Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria, Exarch of Hungary and Central Europe, at the Georgian Patriarchate on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Metropolitan Arsenios was accompanied by Chorbishop Maximos. The delegation was welcomed by Patriarch Shio III, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia.

According to the Georgian Patriarchate, the meeting focused on relations between the two Orthodox Churches and the support provided by Metropolitan Arsenios to the Georgian Orthodox parish in Austria.

Patriarch Shio III and the other participants expressed their gratitude to Metropolitan Arsenios for his assistance to the Georgian Orthodox community.

Delegation recalls the ministry of Patriarch Ilia II The meeting was also attended by Metropolitan Theodore of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-Klarjeti, Chorbishop of the Catholicos-Patriarch; Metropolitan Gerasime of Zugdidi and Tsaishi, Head of the Georgian Patriarchate’s Department of Foreign Affairs; and Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze.
