Memory of the victims of the Asia Minor Disaster in the Metropolis of Thebestranslated

On Sunday September 20, the Sunday after the Raising of the Holy and Life-Saving Cross, in the Holy Parish Church of Agios Panteleimon in the city of Levadeia, the memory of the victims of the Asia Minor Catastrophe was honored with the appropriate ecclesiastical splendor. In the morning, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated, officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thebes, Mr. Georgios, with the participation of the Priests of the Holy Church and the presence of the local political and military Authorities, representatives of organizations and associations, the students of the school units of the Synoikismus area as well as a multitude of devout Christians.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a Holy Memorial Service was held for the repose of the souls of the victims of the Asia Minor Disaster, the thousands of our brothers who were uprooted from their ancestral homes and driven into exile, carrying with them the Orthodox faith, traditions, culture and the historical memory of their unforgettable homelands.
