Orthodoxy in Ghana contributes to the national effort for peacetranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Accra, Mr. Daniel, at the invitation of the National Peace Council of Ghana, participated on Monday, August 17, 2026, in a working meeting to promote religious harmony, peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among the country's religious communities.

The meeting was held at the Christian Council of Ghana, in Accra, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Interior of Ghana, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Ghana, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, senior officials of the Ministry of Interior, representatives of the National Peace Council, representatives of the other Ecclesiastical/Ecumenical Councils of all the Christian Churches and Confessions of the country, in the context of strengthening interreligious dialogue and cooperation for the preservation of peace and social cohesion.

During the meeting, a fruitful dialogue was held on the challenges faced by religious communities, while the importance of cooperation was underlined...

It’s good that Metropolitan Daniel went to this meeting in Accra. When representatives of different churches and the minister and the police discuss together how to live peacefully, it really helps. We wouldn't mind having something like that too.

It’s good that Metropolitan Daniel was there. The meeting with the Home Secretary, the police and all Christian councils is about action, not just words. In Russia, too, sometimes such conversations are needed so that peace can be maintained not only in the church, but also on the street.
