High Priest Divine Liturgy and Memorial for the Asia Minor Genocide in Rethymnontranslated

On the morning of Sunday, September 20, 2026, Rev. Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Mr. Prodromos officiated during the Orthros and then performed the High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of the Four Holy Martyrs of the city of Rethymno. During the Divine Liturgy, a Holy Memorial Service was held for the victims of the Asia Minor Genocide, in the presence of all the local authorities and local bodies, the qualified Army and Security Forces and a large number of people.

The eloquent Mr. Paraskevas Syrianoglou, President of the Association of Rethymnon Asia Minor, spoke inspiringly about the historical events.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service was held in Mikrasiaton Square, in front of the Memorial of the same name, followed by the laying of wreaths.

With the celebration of the Holy Memorial and the memorial prayer, the due tribute of honor and memory was paid to the victims of the tragic events of Asia Minor Hellenism.
