The Great Vespers of the feast of Agios Paisios in Ioanninatranslated

July 12, 2026 · 1 min read

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Great Solemn High Priestly Vespers was celebrated with all ecclesiastical splendor in the celebratory Holy Church of Agios Paisios of the Saints of Kiaphas Ioannina, in memory of our Holy and God-bearing Father Paisios of the Saints, as well as on the occasion of the Synagogue of the miraculous Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary Tricherousa, Patron of the Holy Monastery of Hilandari on Mount Athos. The Solemn Vespers was officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Ioannina Mr. Maximos, flanked by the Protosygello of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Fr. Thomas, as well as by a multitude of clergy from the local Church. Crowds of believers flooded the Holy Temple and its forecourt, in order to honor the great modern Saint of Orthodoxy and worship the Holy Relic of Saint Arsenius of Cappadocia.

After the dismissal of Vespers, the procession of the sacred icons of Saint Paisios of Agioreitos and Panagia of Tricheroussa took place, around the Holy Church, with the participation of the holy clergy and multitudes of believers.

With the return of the litany, the blessing of the baked goods took place in the forecourt of the Holy Temple.
