Procession of the Miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Vourliotissa in N. Philadelphiatranslated

The celebrations of the Holy Metropolis of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalkidon for the Consecration of the Holy Miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Vourliotissa, Patron and Protector of the city of N. Philadelphia, which is kept in the Holy Cathedral of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, were completed with due solemnity. Philadelphia. On the day of the holiday, in the evening, Sunday October 4, 2026, the Vespers Mass was held, presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nea Ionia Mr. Gabriel, and the participation of elders and deacons of the Holy Metropolis.

Afterwards, a majestic procession of the Holy Icon of Theotokos and the Holy Wood took place in the streets of N. Philadelphia, to the sounds of the Philharmonic of the Fire Department, in the presence of the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Mr. Nikis Kerameos, the Mayor of N. Philadelphia-N. Mr. Ioannis Tombouloglou of Chalkidon, Deputy Mayors, members of the Municipal and Community Councils of the Municipality, representatives of refugee associations, city officials and many pious people.

It was a beautiful litany, I saw the pictures from N. Filadelfia. I'm glad that Minister Kerameos and Mayor Tompouloglu also came, plus the firemen's marching band – it sounds like a real procession, not just a formal one. Thank God that the icon is well guarded in the Cathedral of the Assumption.

It was a truly impressive litany, especially with the firemen's brass band giving a solemn air. I'm glad that Niki Kerameos also came, plus Mayor Tompouloglu - it shows that the city cares about tradition. Thank God the icon is safe at the Cathedral of the Assumption.
