A formal and substantive meeting was held today, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, between the Venerable Metropolitan of Derko, Mr. Apostolos, who was accompanied by Ierol. Archdeacon Fr. Daniil Zafeiris, and the Director of the 1st Regional Directorate of the Constantinople Vakıflar (İstanbul Vakıflar 1. Bölge Müdürü) Mr. Yavuz Güner and the Deputy Director Mr. Levent Çetin, in the context of the contacts for issues concerning the Holy Metropolis of Derka.

The 1st Regional Directorate of Endowments is under the General Directorate of Endowments of Turkey (Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü) and its competence covers the European side of Istanbul.

The visit was conducted in a cordial atmosphere. Particular reference was made to the need to maintain close cooperation between the competent bodies, with the aim of dealing more effectively with the issues that arise from time to time. His Eminence expressed his thanks for the already existing cooperation and the interest shown by the Directorate. During the arrival and departure of His Excellency, the Director showed special interest.
