Feast of the Dormition of the Virgintranslated

The feast of the Virgin Mary, deeply engraved in the tradition and consciousness of the Orthodox people, was again this year an occasion for prayer, contemplation and spiritual rejoicing. Throughout Rhodes, parish Churches, Holy Monasteries and Chapels celebrated in honor of the Virgin Mary, with the focus of the religious events being the Holy Parish Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Ialyssos. The sacred services were held in an atmosphere of deep reverence, with the presence of the local political and military Authorities, while there was a particularly large attendance of the faithful, who came to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and to ask for her intercession and protection. The center of the celebration, according to local custom, was the parish church of the Dormition of the Virgin Ialyssos, where the religious events culminated with the solemn Divine Liturgy and the procession of the holy icon of the Virgin Mary, in the presence of a large number of people.
