The Region of Attica and the Holy Archdiocese of Athens are officially creating a common front to deal with a phenomenon that is a scourge for our society today, that of domestic violence. In this context, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., in the presence of the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Ieronymou, a Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed between the Region of Attica and the "Initiative for the prevention of domestic violence" of the Youth and Family Foundation of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.

It's good that they are taking on this matter together. In our families, too, sometimes this happens hidden, and there is almost no help. I wonder what exactly this “Pρωτοβουλία” will do after signing the memorandum?

It is good that the region and the Archdiocese are uniting - this is a serious step. I am interested in how exactly this "Πρωτοβουλία" will work in practice, especially to help in real cases where people are silent out of shame. I hope it reaches ordinary families, not just big events.

Good to see the Church and the region teaming up on this. Our own parish has quietly helped a couple of families over the years where things were kept behind closed doors out of shame. I wonder if the new Initiative will include simple, practical training for priests on how to spot the signs and connect people to real help right away.
