Patriarch Theodoros II: "Along with the Cretan heart, that of Maniatis will now also beat" - Honorary Citizen of Eastern Manitranslated

The Cretan heart of the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa etc. Theodorou now beats as the heart of Maniati since yesterday as his historic visit to the Municipality of Eastern Mani and the Holy Diocese of Mani was combined with his proclamation as an Honorary Citizen.  In a touching ceremony at the closed Areopolis Gymnasium, the Primate of the Second Throne of the Patriarchate was declared an Honorary Citizen of the Municipality of Anatoli Mani on the afternoon of Monday, September 8, 2026.

The golden key of the city was presented to His Beatitude by the Mayor Mr. Petros Andreakos with the President of the Municipal Council reading the resolution with the decision of the Municipal Council to declare the Patriarch an Honorary Citizen.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defense and Member of Parliament for Laconia Mr. Athanasios Davakis, Rev.
