Georgios Siō: Love and forgiveness are virtues without which there is no justicetranslated

In the Patriarchal Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in Tiflis, today's Sunday concluded after the Vespers according to the old calendar, on October 4, 2026, with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy presided by the Most Reverend Patriarch Georgios K. Siō G. In his sermon to the faithful, the Most Reverend, referring to the Gospel passage and the dialogue between Peter and Christ about how many times one should forgive a brother, noted that "the seventy times seven that Jesus answers," means that "if someone repents and asks for forgiveness, you must always forgive him."
The Most Reverend pointed out that to explain the meaning of this saying, Christ referred to the parable of the unmerciful servant who owed ten thousand talents. The Most Reverend commented that "it is a sum that symbolizes an incalculable debt; there was no such sum in all of Israel. This is the hyperbole we have here."
In other words, the servant owed an incalculable debt to the king.
The Patriarch Siō continued, saying:
"The king was displeased, forgave the debt, and let him go. Then this servant went out and met a fellow servant who owed him...
