August 18: Saint Martyrs Floros and Lavros are celebratedtranslated

Today, August 18, the Church honors the memory of the Leo Martyrs, the twin brothers Floros and Lavros and their teachers Patroklos and Maximus. The Holy Martyrs Floros and Lavros, like most twins, were inseparable and very beloved. While still young, they entered a large marble shop as apprentices. There they had two craftsmen renowned for their art. They carved the marble and made a thousand and one designs with the cold stone: birds, flowers, faces, branches with fruits, grapes... The two children insatiably absorbed the art. They have already learned to master the hammer and chisel.
Their two masters were Christians. As they showed them how to carve the marble, they carved their souls along with it. They spoke to them about Christ and His Passion, His miracles, His holy words. They said about the Apostles, about the martyrs...
The two young people absorbed the words and learned from the teachers the example of loving all people, helping the poor, saying words of prayer and, above all, wanting to please Christ.
