The Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost is the day of the forefeast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the twelfth feast of the Mother of God, which we celebrate every year on September 21. The Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands first in a series of annual church holidays, since it served as the beginning of the New Testament story (that the church new year begins on September 14). However, the event itself is not mentioned in the Gospel - we know about it from Holy Tradition.
