On the day of the Beheading of the holy prophet, forerunner and baptist of the Lord John, the brothers of the Orthodox temperance societies “Voskresenskoe” and “Blagoveshchenskoe” gathered together for common prayer. A special prayer service was served with the rite of taking a vow of sobriety.

The church's vow of sobriety is not just a refusal to drink alcohol, but a deep spiritual practice. In the Orthodox tradition, sobriety is understood as vigilance of the spirit, guarding the mind and heart from sinful thoughts and any destructive addictions.

Taking a vow is a step of Christian love and trust in God. A person admits his weakness, but trusts in Divine help, which heals the soul and strengthens bodily strength.

Key Features of the Church's Temperance Pledge:

⦁ Voluntariness and awareness. Each believer chooses his own term: for several months, years or for the rest of his life he makes a promise.

⦁ Spiritual support. The vow gives the right to special prayer assistance from the community and the priest.

⦁ A vow for the sake of one's neighbor. Relatives of addicted people often make promises to show by personal example the path to recovery.
