The Metropolitan of Bessarabia commemorated Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeala at the dedication of a church in the Republic of Moldovatranslated

His Eminence Father Antonie, Archbishop of Chisinau, Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of Plaiurilor, performed the Holy Liturgy on Saturday at the patron saint of the church in the municipality of Ungheni, Republic of Moldova, where he officiated a memorial service for Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeala, 21 years after his passing to the Lord.
A council of priests and deacons served alongside the Metropolitan of Bessarabia, in the presence of the many believers who came to participate in the celebration of the spiritual patron of the parish, St. Cuv. Gerasim of Kefalonia. At the end of the Holy Liturgy, the memorial service was performed for Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeala, Metropolitan of Transylvania from 1982-2005, originally from the Bessarabian town of Stolniceni.
His Eminence Father Antonie recalled that the Archdiocese of Chisinau declared 2026 as the Honorary Year of Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeala, in the context of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
At the same time, it highlighted his contribution to the life of the Romanian Orthodox Church, to supporting the reactivation of the Metropolis of Bessarabia and to reaffirming the historical and canonical truth of the Romanian Orthodox Church in this region.
