The Vatoped monastery celebrated the Honorable Girdle of the Mother of Godtranslated

The Vatoped Monastery in Holy Mount Athos celebrated on Sunday the placing of the venerable Girdle of the Mother of God in the reliquary according to the unrevised calendar, Orthodoxia News Agency informs.

On the eve of the feast, the reliquary was removed from the Holy Altar and brought to the main church of the Athonite monastic settlement for the worship of pilgrims.

The Vigil service was officiated by His Eminence Father Timotei, Metropolitan of Thessaliotide and Phanariofersala, which was attended by the abbot of the Vatoped Monastery, Father Ephrem, as well as priests and deacons from various monastic settlements of the Holy Mountain.

During the Litia, the traditional Athonite agape was offered in the meeting hall of the monastery. At the festive moment, Metropolitan Timotei and father Ephrem spoke spiritual words.

The religious demonstrations were attended by Alkiviadis Stefanis, the Civil Governor of the Holy Mountain, together with an administrative delegation from Thessaliotida, consisting of parliamentarians, representatives of the regional and local administration.
