Holy Dormition Celebrated at the Diocesan Cathedral

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On August 14 and August 15, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Diocese of the Midwest presided over services for the Great Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.
All Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Archbishop and he was assisted by Archpriest John Parker, Dean of St. Tikhon’s Theological Seminary, Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, Deacon Paul Garklavs, and Deacon Timothy Heinbokel. The Cathedral Choir was directed by Reader Vladimir Lymar.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, His Eminence blessed the flowers that were placed before the Chicago-Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God. The Archbishop then spoke about the holy life of the Virgin, as well as her constant presence, protection, and prayers for those who call upon her.
The Archbishop welcomed the M.Div students of the newly formed cohort in the diocese. Icons and Akathist books were then distributed to the participants of the program.
