The Dolj County Council launched the initiative for the inclusion of the test culture in Oltenia in the UNESCO heritagetranslated

The Dolj County Council launched on Wednesday a multi-year cultural project that aims to recognize and protect the traditional techniques of making and using the bread baking test, with a view to being included in the UNESCO World Heritage, informs Agerpres.

The "Test culture in Oltenia" project is implemented by the Dolj County Center for Culture and Art and the Oltenia Museum Craiova and involves both research and the preparation of the necessary scientific documentation, as well as the development of an extensive program of education, promotion and revitalization of the traditions related to the test and the gastronomy specific to the region.

According to the president of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile, the dough-baked bread and associated traditions represent an identity landmark that must be passed on to future generations.

"Today, one of the oldest methods of bread preparation in the households of Oltenia begins its way to the gallery where you can already find Horezu ceramics, the Căluș ritual, kept alive by the care of colleagues from CJCA Dolj, or the art of making Romanian bread, registered in the UNESCO heritage and through the efforts of specialists from the Oltenia Museum".
