Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia has been appointed spokesman of the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.

The appointment comes as the Standing Holy Synod convened on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, for its first meeting of the 170th Synodal Period, which runs from September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027.

The members of the Standing Holy Synod met to consider the items included on the agenda.

That's a solid choice — Metropolitan Chrysostomos has always struck me as level-headed from what I've read. Interesting that the 170th Synodal Period kicks off right on September 1 like clockwork. Pray it goes smoothly for them.

Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia is a really wise choice, I also remembered how he once spoke calmly and precisely about the affairs of the Church. Interestingly, the 170th synodal period begins on the first of September, like clockwork. God help them this year.
