The Library of the Romanian Academy presented on Friday the legacy of the Holy Hierarch Martyr Antim Ivireanul through an exhibition of over 55 prints and manuscripts that illustrate his contribution to church and cultural life.

The cultural event, entitled "Different peoples with one Creed: the Holy Hierarch Martyr Antim Ivirean as typographer, translator and cultural unifier", was organized in collaboration with the Library of the Holy Synod.

The public can see old volumes printed in Romanian, Greek, Georgian, Arabic and Slavonic, originating from several printing centers where the holy hierarch was active. Among the exhibits are also four important Romanian manuscripts, including Antim Monastery, as well as a Greek-Arabic Gospel.

Carmen Albu, bibliographer in the Manuscripts, Rare Book Service of the Romanian Academy Library, explained that the selection aims to highlight both the typographic activity and the pastoral and cultural dimension of the hierarch.

"We chose to exhibit old prints and manuscripts of Metropolitan Antim Ivireanul, a prominent personality of the Romanian and universal church and cultural life," said the bibliographer.
