On the evening of August 31, 2026, on the eve of the day of remembrance of the Don Icon of the Mother of God, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin performed a polyeleos service in the Cathedral of St. Simeon the Stylite in Brest, co-served by the cathedral clergy.

During the service, Archbishop John anointed the faithful with blessed oil.

At the end of the service, His Eminence addressed the believers with an archpastoral word.

Спасибо за новость. Хорошо, что владыка Иоанн сам помазывал всех елеем, это всегда особенно трогает. У нас в Мадриде тоже почитают Донскую икону, буду молиться ей в эти дни.

Aquí en Barcelona también tenemos una copia pequeña de la Donская икона en casa, la sacamos estos días para rezar delante de ella con mi hijo. ¿En qué parroquia de Madrid la veneran más?

I'm glad you have that copy of the Donskaya icon at home, Sofia. It's nice to take her out with your son these days, the same thing happens to me with the little one they gave us at the parish. In Madrid I think they venerate her especially in the Orthodox Cathedral of San Andrés, although I'm not entirely sure. Did you get it on a trip?
