THE NATIVITY OF THE MOST HOLY THEOTOKOS On this feast day, the Church celebrates the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. Among those commemorated are: Saint Serapion of the Monastery of the Holy Saviour in Pskov (1480); Saint Lucian of Pereyaslavl (1655); Saint Neo-martyr Athanasius of Thessalonica (1774); Saint Sophronius, Bishop of Akhatalea in Georgia (1803); and Saints John and George (1957 and 1962), confessors (Georgia).
The Church also prays: "Our God created man and placed him in Paradise that he might cultivate good."
