September 10: Day of the Land of the Moths is celebrated for the first timetranslated

Motilor Day is celebrated on Thursday for the first time, after the Romanian Parliament decided to establish the holiday on September 10.

The initiators of the law reasoned that the celebration of the Land of the Motiles "would be a good opportunity to affirm the civic and democratic values that Avram Iancu fought for: equal rights, justice, national dignity".

"The holiday could stimulate the involvement of young people in projects with historical and patriotic themes, thus contributing to the formation of an active civic consciousness", the statement of reasons also states.

On the occasion of this day, public, central and local authorities, public cultural institutions from the country and abroad, as well as organizations belonging to national minorities can organize cultural, social, educational and artistic activities to promote the history, traditions, customs and cultural heritage of Șări Moților.
