World Teachers' Day 2026 marks 60 years of supporting the teaching profession and statustranslated

World Teachers' Day, celebrated annually on October 5, marks in 2026 the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the international document dedicated to protecting the profession and strengthening the teaching status.
The celebration was established by UNESCO to highlight the contribution of teachers to the formation of generations and the need to improve the conditions in which they work.
The 2026 theme, "Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, strengthening its status and shaping our future", draws attention to the current challenges in education and the importance of supporting those working in the field.
60 years about teachers World Teachers' Day commemorates the 1966 Recommendation of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and UNESCO on the status of teachers.
The act establishes principles regarding the rights and responsibilities of teaching staff, professional training, recruitment and working conditions. In 1997, the document was supplemented by a new recommendation concerning the activities of academic staff.
