My dear fellow disciples of Jesus, as you gather for your annual assembly, let me greet you all and salute you in your ongoing quest for faithful witness to the gospel in this especially challenging time. I am grateful to your Moderator and General Secretary for the opportunity to do so.

Our whole global ecumenical fellowship joins in my greeting. We in the World Council of Churches feel a special kinship with the PROK. We are particularly proud of your enduring and consistent witness to social justice, to the sustainability of the earth, to the vocations of women, to peace and justice for the people of Korea, to strong ecumenical theological education.
